The black death still exists today, though is much less prevalent, and with today's knowledge it is very much curable... It still has a relatively high death rate when untreated, but given treatment and taking the necessary precautions it's not something to be overly afraid of

Mæx Wellington • 9 months ago

Similar to rabies, but way more contageous

Radical Honesty • 1 year ago

The black fucking death oh shit

Anonamousspark • 1 year ago

Not exactly unexpected though

A pandemic was likely going to come up as conflict and as soon as you here about the death toll it was fairly easy to guess the disease

Cocoli • 1 year ago

It's the go-to for a reason, it's the nastiest disease in history. You could buck the trend with Spanish Flu or a novel disease (assuming it's worse than fucking covid), or one of magical origin, but there's more terror you induce with the mention of the black death than there is any other disease.

Anonamousspark • 1 year ago

Very true

Also a magic disease sounds rather unlikely for this series at least this early on

Farma is supposed to have very advanced knowledge for the location so using a famous deadly one he’d know about but with very high risk is a good escalation after a single case of a less catastrophic one to prove his validity was definitely the best case

Next I would assume an unknown magical disease will be introduced which will force him to expand his research facilities will be used

And depending on how far they want to go it needs to be topped off with another plague of unknown origins most likely designed by that bastard who bookended this episode

You'd think they'd soft ball it for season 1 though.... But no, they go directly to the big guns.

Da Grim • 1 year ago

True but who would have thought the black death would also be a lich.

Mayuta • 1 year ago

This whole episode hits too close to home right now. Falma is preparing everyone for the possible outback of a disease that everyone thought was incurable. The difference is that the leaders actually listen to the expert and let him lead to avoid a potential disaster.

Finally don't forget to watch the post credit sence!

i forgot queen elizabeth died while this was airing

OJ ROTEX • 1 year ago

They buried her yesterday next to her late husband. I'm not Britain but I hope the country and their new king are doing well

Anonamousspark • 1 year ago

Not great if you need to head out for a bottle of milk

Or you got arrested for wanting a republic over a monarchy

Or being arrested for a blank sign (yes this really happened)

Their queen is the most likable noble in Anime.

I find the term "Black Death" to be offensive; They should call it something like... "African-American-Passing!"
